February 11, 2008

Secretary's report: The minutes of the November 12th, 2007 annual association meeting were distributed for review. A move to approve the minutes was made by Chuck Farr and seconded by Sue Terry, all approved.

Treasurer's report: Treasurer Tom Chase was absent due to illness. Tom had prepared a report that was distributed and discussed. Some questions surfaced and Donna, Rob and Jack did their best to answer the questions posed. Income & expenses for the historical survey and rowhouse move were specific topics of discussion.

Amendment of Article IV, section 2 (board seats 9 to 11), approved unanimously.
Amendment of Definition of “written notice” to include email, approved unanimously.
Pending approval of bylaw changes introductions of nominations & voting for open board seats.
Forrest Determann (adopted as an honorary board member in November pending amendment to number of open board seats, approved unanimously.)
Dave Schlarmann (volunteered to fill open 11th seat, Jack Porter moved that the membership allow Dave to run for the open office without following the requirements of a nominating petition, all approved. Dave approved to the board unanimously.)

Occasionally questions are surfaced about seeing trucks on posted “No Truck” routes in Sherman Hill. We were directed by Senior Police Officer Mike West to call or email him with the name of the fleet and the date & time and street you witness seeing truck traffic on. He will communicate with the carrier and issue a citation as applicable. His contact information is

Action Plan: Donna and the established Action Plan update committee have been meeting regularly since October working on updates for a 2009 version of our Sherman Hill Action Plan. You can read the 1999 plan as well as review the committee’s working document via the Action Plan link on our www.HistoricShermanHill.com site. In addition a smaller subset of committee members will be meeting soon to work specifically on the updates we want for the Kingsway Vicinity. These recommendations will be included in the Action Plan, but also sent to the city in time for review prior to the public hearing scheduled on 3/24 regarding Kingsway Cathedral.
Brand Image: Jeff was absent, but it was shared that the tagline “A Distinctive Downtown Neighborhood” has been selected for projects his committee will be working toward.
Communication: Forrest reported on the Google mail program that we have adopted for our public mailing communication. To sign up for the Sherman Hill mailing list send an email to HistoricShermanHill@googlegroups.com requesting to be added to the list. You will receive an email confirmation once you have been added to the system. To send a message to the group send the message you would like to communicate to the group to HistoricShermanHill@googlegroups.com. Once the message has been approved by our moderators, it will be forwarded to the rest of the community. “{SH}will be appended to the beginning of the subject line, indicating the message has come from the group. Economic Development: Rob reported on the status of the rowhouse & Murillo moves. The rowhouse will be moving to the lot east of Carl’s on Woodland with the association funding its move. The Murillo has been picked up by a developer who will be moving it to the corner of 16th and High. The question of having liability insurance was surfaced and will be researched.
Gateway West: Rob reported that he is still involved with the Gateway Steering Committee. We had group discussion about how important the topic of physical connectors remains to be.

Grants: Jack reported on survey progress. Research will pick up as a pending May 15th deadline is approaching.
Neighborhood Improvements: no report
Social/Fundraising: Jack shared the dates for the 2008 House Tour which are Sept. 20, 21 & 27, 28. If you are interested in being on the 2008 House Tour committee please contact Jack Porter.
